JSS Mahavidyapeetha was the vision and foresight of his holiness, Jagadguru late Sri Sri Sri Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd pontiff of the 1000-year-old Suttur Mutt.Sri Sri Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the 24th pontiff, is steering the success of a host of educational institutions and programs in the fields of engineering, medicine, dental, pharmacy, naturopathy, nursing, law, management, pure sciences, arts, commerce, vocational and spiritual education.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha was established in the year 1954 the Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Mahavidyapeetha has been described by many eminent educationists as greater than a University, because under its aegis a child can begin its education in the kindergarten and proceed to earn a degree as well as a doctorate in several branches of learning. Simultaneously the Mahavidyapeetha has not neglected to strengthen the roots of our ancient knowledge, wisdom and culture and their application in the day-to-day life. Sanskrit Pathashalas, Yoga Kendras, Spiritual Retreats, Gurukulas, Art and Cultural forums are doing this work.Every year thousands of aspirants of education and knowledge join the fold of the Mahavidyapeetha. Distinguished national leaders including the first President of India, Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad, the former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Former Prime Minister Sri Atal Behari Vajpayee have visited JSS and paid rich tribute to services rendered by the Mahavidyapeetha.

JSSMVP encompasses many high schools, several colleges of arts, science, law and commerce, four engineering colleges, one medical college, two pharmacy colleges, one dental college, four polytechnics and three Industrial Training Institutions which are forging ahead in their quest for aece Education For All. Today JSSMVP runs over 300 institutions spread across the world located in many Indian states (Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Uttar Pradesh), Mauritius and Dubai. More than 41,000 students are pursuing their education in the JSS system, which has about 5,500 faculty members coalescing their efforts towards the development of the organization.
